Rae Spencer
Erotic Romance Author
Welcome to my blog today! We have the talented Rae Spencer with us this week and I'm excited for you to learn more about her. I met her on Twitter and we have become good friends.
Rae describes herself as an
eclectic recluse working as a paper-pusher living in Harveys Lake Pennsylvania.
She is the author of the erotica novellas “Beyond A Proposition” and "For
Everything," and the short story “Cigány Flame” included in the anthology
“Indulgence” by Lazy Day Publishing.
She started
reading romance novels in middle school and began writing in high school and
claims reading historical romance’s played a huge role in helping her pass high
school History. After years of writing in the closet, Rae decided to take a
chance and joined a poetry workshop. Through the camaraderie and gentle nudges
of her friends, Rae took the leap toward submissions.
Rae’s
writing lets her live her fantasies and give her imagination the freedom needed
to flourish. Her biggest desire for her stories is simply for those who read
them to lose themselves in the stories, temporarily leaving the dredge of
reality behind.
She is a dreamy
Libra and coffee aficionado wrapped in a tiny package and a peanut M&M
fanatic, a girly-girl rocker and butterfly lover.
Tonya: Rae, welcome to my space and I'm glad to have you here all week. Readers love to know more about their
authors. Tell us a bit about yourself.
Rae: Tonya, thank you for allowing me to meet your readers. I am a shy wallflower and an introvert. I
like to hula-hoop, cross-stitch and have three misfit pets, 2 dogs and a cat.
Two of my favorite things are butterflies and lilies. I have been on my own a
long time and have a tendency to be far too independent and stubborn for my own
good, or so I‘ve been told. Also, I am know n for getting lost in the stories I
read and write.
Tonya: Do you have a day job?
Rae: Unfortunately, but needs must be met, lol. I
work as a paper pusher, phone answerer, and the face in the showroom for a
local construction company.
Tonya: We hate when the real world has to interfere
with our writing, for sure! Some of us have things we do to get into the
writing frame of mind like music, or drinks. Do you have anything special you
do to get into the writing mood?
Rae: Not really, I just have to have the story in my
head waiting for me to write it out. Although I do prefer to listen to music or
have the TV on when I am writing.
Tonya: Do you have a card file where you keep story
ideas? Where do they come from?
Rae: hmmm… not really a card file, more like a document
folder, I do most of my writing on the computer. Some come from my own
fantasies and obsessions and some just come from something I heard or saw. I am
a poet too and I find a lot of my stories, plots and characters develop
from a poem I wrote and when I don’t
currently have a story in my head I go through some of my older poems and look
for inspiration for a new story.
Tonya: Are you a daytime writer, nighttime writer,
and do you have to be alone to write?
Rae: I can write at time, it really depends on my
mood and how much of the story is rolling in my head. I don’t have to be alone
to write, I am used to there being a lot of noise and kids around while I write
so I like there to be background noise. I find if it is too quiet, I end up
just daydreaming and accomplishing nothing.
Tonya: Do you write better when you first have an
idea of what your characters look like or do you write, then add character
looks?
Rae: I usually have my characters looks first. They
appear as an image in my head usually based off someone I met or saw that
tickled my fancy. The story unfolds like a movie I have to transcribe, which
can be very difficult at times, especially when everything moves in fast
forward.
Tonya: I totally understand seeing your book as a
movie in your head! I love it when it comes through that way! We’re dying to
hear about your latest book. What can you tell us without spoiling the
storyline?
Rae: My latest story is “Cigány Flame,” part of
the anthology “Indulgence” released through LazyDay Publishing. It is a short erotic
story based on a traveling carnival troupe called the “Cirque Romani” and has a
paranormal twist. It is flaming hot!
Tonya: Where can our readers find you and your
books?
Rae: I can usually be found on Twitter, (I think I
am addict) and other social networking sites. My books are available on Amazon,
Barnes and Noble and All Romance and my links are listed below.
Tonya: Is there anything else you want to tell our
readers?
Rae: I am hopelessly addicted to Nickelback; well
I should clarify and say their music, although I do love to tweet with them
simply because I enjoy the cheap thrill running along my nerves when they
respond. I love my hula-hoop, enjoy the exercise it gives me, and love to hoop
in my front yard. I consider popcorn to be an acceptable lunch or dinner since
it is a vegetable, LOL.
Tonya: OMG! I thought I was the only one who changed
out popcorn for a meal! LOL What is your favorite nighttime snack?
Rae: Bailey’s coffee with whipped cream, not
really a snack food, but it is my guilty pleasure.
Tonya: Mmmm….one of my favs too. Do you like
toppings on your ice cream?
Rae: Hot fudge, marshmallow and peanuts are the
bomb.
Tonya: What’s your favorite meal - Italian, Mexican,
Thai, etc?
Rae: Hmmm… I am a carnivore at heart… good old-fashioned
beef and potatoes, although stick some hot fudge and sprinkles/peanuts in a cup
and I just might consider that dinner. Back to being serious, I’ve included
excerpts of each of my books for our readers to enjoy:
Excerpts
Beyond A
Proposition:
"It is what?" he whispered,
his head lowered toward hers.
Skye’s eyes flared wide, she pushed herself
into the wall. She didn't want him kissing her, anything but that. His head
turned, his mouth brushed her cheek, slid down her neck placing kisses and
gentle bites.
Skye couldn't help herself. She
arched her neck in response. God it felt so good. So good to be touched. To be
wanted. She was fast losing the battle, and knew she could never win the war.
"Why don't we give it a
try," he whispered by her ear, as his tongue played with the lobe before
his teeth closed.
Skye opened her mouth, instead of
words, a gasp escaped as his left hand cupped her breast, his thumb brushing
across her nipple. Her eyes closed. She wouldn’t stop what was happening. She
wanted him, consequences be damned. She wanted to be loved by this man, even if
it was only for one night. She wasn't with anyone, he wasn't with anyone; they
wouldn't be hurting anyone.
His mouth moved along her neck as his
other hand slid down her shoulder to cup her other breast.
Skye gasped again, his thumbs brushed
in unison along her nipples then pushed each one in. She moaned. Will could do
whatever he wanted. She was his. Skye opened her eyes and stared into his blue
depths.
"I want to make love to you,
Skye," Will whispered, "let me."
He took a step back, held out his
hand; palm up, the choice hers. If she wanted to leave, to forget him, to
forget this, all she had to do was walk to the door and out of his life.
Skye couldn't, she had to experience
this just once. God, he was gorgeous. So much a man.
Skye placed her hand in his and took
the necessary step forward.
His fingers wrapped around her hand,
when she was close enough he placed his face against her neck, gave her a soft
gentle kiss before bending and scooping her into his arms heading toward the
bedroom.
No going back, the decision made, and Skye was damned to live
in her own hell.
For
Everything:
“The BBQ.” He poured a little more
coffee in his cup, warming it up.
“How long will we be there?” she
asked.
“All day and most of the night,” he
watched her sip her coffee. “There will be games, music, and lots of food.”
“What kind of BBQ is it?” She shifted
in her seat as her fingers played with the rim of her coffee cup.
“A picnic, actually, for the
employees, we have one every year.” He took a drink of his coffee, watching her
fidget.
She glanced at him. “That’s nice to
throw a picnic for your employees. Do you have a lot?”
“A fair few.” He laughed. “It is for
those who are year round and those who go on tour with us.”
Lily suppressed the shiver Clay’s
laugh caused, lowering her eyes. She stared at his hands… fascinated, wondering
if they would be gentle on the skin.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, noticing
the blush steal up her face.
“Oh, nothing, just thinking.” She
shifted in her seat again, her fingers gripping her coffee cup tightly.
“Care to share.” Clay wondered what
she had been thinking to cause such a delightful blush to tint her face.
She wrapped both her hands around her
coffee cup. “No.”
He laughed, her face was bright red.
“Okay, finish your coffee and we will head out, do you want something to eat
first?”
“No, I can eat at the BBQ.” She
stood, walking over to the kitchen sink.
“Are you sure?” He asked.
She nodded washing the cup.
He walked up behind her, barely a
foot away and Lily inhaled his cologne.
He put the pot back on the machine,
placing his coffee cup and the spoon in the sink.
She took a quick breath, quivers
racing along her skin from his nearness. She automatically started washing the
cup and spoon.
Clay didn’t move from behind her, he
could smell the sweet scent of her hair. Leaning forward he placed his hand on
her shoulder.
She jumped, a soft gasp escaping her
lips.
“Sorry.” He was ecstatic! Lily was reacting to him. He
grinned. He would spend the day teasing her and maybe tonight she would let him
into her bed, the one place he desperately wanted to be.
Cigány
Flame:
“I want you, Maks.” Tzigana reached
over moving the picnic basket off the blanket. “I want you my way.”
“How is your way?” Maks watched her
glowing brown eyes. He had a very good idea what her way was. He knew it would
not hurt him, as long as he didn’t fight. Could he surrender to her? Could he
let her be in control?
Tzigana tilted her head, smiling. She
pushed her skirt and lace panties down, exposing her lower body to his eyes.
Maks gulped, his eyes roving her
body. Her hair billowed behind her as she stood over him, her legs on either
side of his hips. She was so beautiful, so full of life and fire.
Tzigana sat down on his abdomen. Her
hands roved over his chest, leaning forward she flicked his nipple with her
tongue. “Are you game, Maks?”
Maks groaned. He hoped he was capable
of submitting to her will temporarily. “Yes, Cigány, whatever you want, I am
yours.”
Tzigana stared into his eyes, smiling
softly. Her eyes glowed brightly as she reached down, clasping his hands that
played at her waist. She slid her fingers into his bringing his hands to her
lips. She placed a kiss on each before releasing them.
“Put your hands above your head,”
Tzigana demanded.
Maks slowly slid his arms above his head. His hands turned
toward each other, fingers barely touching. His eyes fascinated with her
glowing, burning ones.
