Tonya: Welcome, Melissa. I’m thrilled to have you as a guest this week. Readers love to know more about their authors. Tell us a bit about yourself.

Melissa: I began my love of writing since picking up my first urban fictional book. I wanted to turn my love of reading into writing. In 2001 and 2002 I went the self-publishing route and published 3 books. I knew that self-publishing wasn’t the route I wanted to take anymore, so I continued on to write more manuscripts until I was able to get signed with a major publishing company. Writing has become a way for me to be creative in telling compelling stories and memorable characters of lies and deceits. I am also a member of the Motown Writer Network.

Tonya: Do you have a day job?

Melissa: yes, I work full time at the hospital.

Tonya: Some of us have things we do to get into the writing frame of mind like music, or drinks. Do you have anything special you do to get into the writing mood?

Melissa: Coffee and a lifetime movie network

Tonya: Where do you keep story ideas? I have notes for each of my story idea. Where do they come from?

Melissa: I have notes for each of my story ideas. I get my ideas from watching t.v.

Tonya: If you’re self-published, can you tell us a bit about that and how it’s going for you?

Melissa: I did in the beginning because of the rejection. I wrote three self-published book including A Christmas Day Surprise. Doing self-published work is a lot of marketing as with a traditional they have all the outlet and media as with my love on Death Row.

Tonya: Are you a daytime writer, night time writer, and do you have to be alone to write?

Melissa: I am a night time writer. It help to be alone so yes I am.

Tonya: What advice would you give to new authors?

Melissa: Make sure you have a good editor.

Tonya: Do you write better when you first have an idea of what your characters look like or do you write, then add character looks?

Melissa: The characters looks have nothing to do with my idea of writing. I focus on the cliffhanger of the story and build around that.

Tonya: Interesting. I love that writers have their own way and each is different. What attracts you most about men?

Melissa: Strong, Handsome and protector. When men love, they love hard.

Tonya: We’re dying to hear about your latest book. What can you tell us without spoiling the storyline?

Melissa:
We as women always look for things that are out of place with the men in our lives. If you know your man’s routine like the back of your hand, then all of sudden he starts doing things that are out of the normal, we get suspicious. Our suspicions are always right! This is what is happening with Annetta.

Tonya: This sounds like we could find a bit of revenge here. Where can our readers find you and your books?

Melissa: It’s on Amazon or you can get it free with a purchase of my Christmas Candle melts. When you check out write, in the convo box ‘Tonya blog’.

Tonya: Is there anything else you want to tell our readers?

Melissa: A review is always great, so if they like it, I would love if they could leave a review.

Tonya: What is your favorite night time snack?

Melissa: Fruit, cream cheese and crackers.

Tonya: Do you like toppings on your ice cream?

Melissa: no. like it plain

Tonya: What’s your favorite meal - Italian, Mexican, Thai, etc?

Melissa: Mexican for sure.

Tonya: I love getting to know my guest authors and so do our readers. Melissa, again, thanks for being here this week. Readers, get your entries into the contest below, and then click over to Amazon or Melissa's website to check out her other books!
