Character Interview for Rainie's Lake by Brenda and Steve

Rainie's Lake
Character Interview

Hi! Brenda and Steve here...thank you for joining us today as we chat with Dylan and Rainie on the porch at the cabin.  This is our first interview with characters and both let us know they wanted to chat! Now, we won't allow them to give spoilers away, but we do hope you'll come to love these two as we do.

We're sitting here enjoying the breathtaking view of the pine trees and the serene mountains. Dylan is making us coffee. He's such the host! Rainie will be here soon.

Later if you want to stretch your legs and walk about, you'll probably find Rainie down by the lake. She wanders in the fog early mornings and before dusk. Be careful by the lake's edge, the fog is thick and the water is freezing this time of year. The dock would be the safest place to stand and chat with her one on one.

Ah, here's Dylan now with steaming mugs to go around. Thanks Dylan!

Brenda & Steve: Dylan, we hope you're enjoying your vacation. Tell us a little bit about you and your job as an art instructor.

Dylan: You're welcome and actually I am! Well, *chuckles* I'm really pretty boring. I love to fish so when I saw the ad for the cabin with the private dock, and the spectacular view, I knew this place was my destination. I teach at the local arts & design college within a few miles of my home. Every quarter, I have the pleasure of instructing very gifted students; about 15 to 20 in the class. I guess being one of the youngest instructors helps too. My students and I really connect.

Brenda & Steve: We did hear the fishing is good in these parts. What prompted this alone time?

Dylan: This vacation was long over due since I haven't taken time for myself in four years. As you can see it's a beautiful area for an artist to get the creative juices flowing. I hoped to find inspiration to put the brush to canvas and I did. *grins*

Brenda & Steve: We see the grin on your face. And here's the reason! Hi Rainie, glad you have joined us.

*Dylan stands and offers Rainie his chair*

Rainie: *smiles, pulling the hood away from her head* Hi Brenda & Steve!
*Dylan rests his hand on her shoulder. Rainie places her hand over his, giving it a squeeze*

Brenda & Steve: Rainie, you're from this area. Tell us a little bit about yourself and growing up here.

Rainie: I grow up in the next town. After I graduated from college, I returned and taught at the grammar school. My parents rented this cabin a few times when I was a little girl. I have wonderful memories of playing out by the dock and on the lake that I try to keep in the forefront of my mind because there's a sad memory here too. *tightens her grip on Dylan's hand*

Brenda & Steve:*sighs* We know there are good times and bad times here, so let's keep the chat in a happy mode for now. Dylan, what was it about Rainie that drew you to her.

Dylan: *takes a lingering glance at Rainie* Her eyes captured me. They're a beautiful green and get darker depending on her mood. Oh, and her smile which reaches her eyes first.  Ummm, her butt too; I loved watching her walk away but hoped she would always return. *winks at Rainie*

Brenda & Steve: That's so sweet and romantic! Rainie, same question to you. What drew you to Dylan?

Rainie: *blushes* Dylan, you just had to add how much you liked my backside! Let's see, he makes great coffee don't you think! *laughs*  His boyish good looks, sandy hair and his kindness.  I've never met a man as kind and giving as Dylan.

*A red 2012 Mustang pulls in the yard. A familiar, shapely brunette gets out of the car and waves*

Tonya: Hi everyone! I was out for a drive and thought I'd stopped by.

Brenda & Steve: *in unison* Hey Tonya! *each give her a hug* (Brenda) This is a surprise visit! We're chatting with Dylan and Rainie.

*Steve offers his chair to Tonya, gets a hug and she hugs Brenda*

Tonya: Thanks Steve, you're such a gentleman! It's great to see you two again. Nice to meet you Dylan and Rainie. *takes a second look at Dylan from head to toe* He's a keeper, Rainie.

Brenda & Steve: (Brenda laughs) Tonya, hon, behave now.

Tonya: Whaaaat? I was just sayin'. Actually I have a few questions to ask if I may be so bold.

Brenda & Steve: *Steve winks at Tonya* Bren, you know Tonya loves being in control since the switch.

Tonya: *purrs* Yes, I cherish my new role. For my first question: What do each of you find attractive in the opposite sex?

Rainie: Well Tonya, I mentioned earlier kindness and how kind Dylan is. The other traits would be a good sense of humor, compassion and a good kisser.

Tonya: Oh, let me guess. Dylan is a good kisser among other things?

Rainie: Yes to all!

Dylan: *blushes* Okay, no kissing and telling here. Tonya, what I find most attractive in a female is a passion for life, a woman that keeps me smiling whether she is with me or I'm thinking of her. But most of all, a woman who doesn't give up and goes after what she wants or needs to do.

Tonya: Well this brings me to my other question. *turns to look at Rainie* Rainie, you had a tragic past. What made you think Dylan would be the one to believe and help you?

Rainie: *bites her lower lip, looks at Dylan* He cares for people and how they feel. I tried many times to get other people, who came to the cabin, to listen to me. No one believed me. Dylan did. I wish I could go back and change my life, and met Dylan back then; my life would have been so different.

Dylan:  *kneels down beside Rainie, looks up at Tonya* We both wish we knew each other before the incident.

Tonya: Thank goodness I brought tissues! *reaches in her leather coat pocket*

Brenda & Steve: (Brenda) *sniffs* Okay, I'm getting teary-eyed all over again here. Rainie and Dylan, thank you for chatting with us today. Tonya, we're so glad you drove up to visit. It'll be dusk soon and we want to leave before the fog rolls in.

Rainie: *stands* I need to take my walk near the lake. Dylan, we'll work on the sketch later this evening?

Dylan: *rises, takes Rainie's hand and softly kisses her lips* Sure Rainie. Just a few more touches and I'll be ready to paint.

*Brenda, Steve and Tonya watch the intimate exchange between the lovers before walking towards their cars*

Blurb for Rainie's Lake:

Taking a long over due vacation, Art Instructor, Dylan Bishop is eager to start his trip to the cabin in the mountains. When he saw the photo online with the rental ad, he knew this was his destination. Being drawn to the lake nestled behind the cabin with a private dock, Dylan hopes to regain his inspiration to paint.
His vacation takes an erotic turn when he meets Rainie Marks on a foggy morning by the dock. She is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. However, there is sadness and a mystery about her. Finding his inspiration, he sketches her one evening and unable to resist the passion that has sparked between them, Rainie and Dylan share a sensual night together.
When Rainie tells him the truth about her past and the lake, the mystery she hides unfolds. The key to everything is the lake. Will Dylan be able to help her put the past to rest?

Excerpt from Master's Email!

A Short Story

This is an unplanned short story that I found in my files, written many years ago, and edited a bit so I could share it with you! As I worked on it, the length of the story ended up being more than the original but I don't think you'll mind! If you love spanking stories and/or happen to enjoy watching, you'll like the read. I happen to know there's a tiny bit of voyeurism in all of us.....*wicked laugh*....you can't fool me! You're just like me or you wouldn't have stopped in here! I love that you're just like me though....naughty nasty minds that love to read even naughtier stories!

I know I said the western would be my next story but when I found this I just had to share. The western won't release until late 2012 or early 2013 so subscribe to my newsletter so you can be the first to know!

The release date will be June 17th and to tease you just a little, I've put Master's Email out there for you to read. Click the BookBuzzr link over on the left a little further down and....happy reading, my pretties! Muah!

Meet Lynn Chantale - Erotic Romance Author!

 W. Lynn Chantale

Erotic Romance Author

Winner of the Mug

andieleah78

Welcome everyone! Yep, it's a bubble bath interview party! Grab your favorite drink from the ice bucket over there and come join us! Oh the tub is bigger than  you think! Lynn will be with us all week so feel free to stop back and leave a comment later if you don't have time today. On Saturday she's giving away a 'mug full of goodies' to one lucky comment who also leaves their email addy in the comment so Lynn can easily reach you.

Here's a bit about our sexy guest of honor:  W. Lynn Chantale resides in southeastern Michigan. Married to her high school sweetheart, they’ve been together for the last twenty years. They have three children. She writes African-American and Interracial sensual erotic and erotic romance. She has a mad affinity for milk chocolate, preferably Dove chocolate truffles or the caramel-filled squares (Godiva and Ghiradelli are acceptable), and plays the bass guitar when the Muse begs for a bit of distraction.

Tonya:  Lynn, welcome to my never ending bubbles this week. Wow, base guitar player, eh? How awesome is that! And a chocolate lover, too! Perhaps a reader or two just might send you your milk chocolates! I prefer dark chocolate if anyone is taking notes. Readers love to know more about their authors. Tell us a bit about yourself.

Lynn:  Hi Tonya, thank you so much for having me here today. Let’s see what trouble can I get into today. I love to read even though I don’t have as much time as before. Writing is the best choice I ever could’ve made, while I may not be rich...yet, being a published author is a dream come true. Hmm, I love watching sunsets, sunrises and waves lapping against the shore. Hot showers are great for relaxing and working out plot points. I don’t like pepperoni on my pizza and my fridge is stocked with Coca-Cola.

Tonya:  Check! Love Coke over Pepsi...sorry Pepsi lovers. Do you have a day job?

Lynn:  Writing is my day job now and it’s a pretty sweet gig. Before I wrote full time I worked as a cake decorator.

Tonya:  Well congrats on being able to write full time. The Boss still needs me to show up once in a while, for some reason! LOL Some of us have things we do to get into the writing frame of mind like music, or drinks. Do you have anything special you do to get into the writing mood?

Lynn:  Depending on my mood, I alternate between silence and old school R&B. That can range from Frankie Beverly and Chaka Khan to Luther Vandross and Keith Sweat.

Tonya:  Luther does get those writing juices flowing! Where do you keep story ideas? Where do they come from?

Lynn:  I store my ideas either in my head. Yes it gets a little crowded up there sometimes or I write them down in a notebook. My ideas come from whatever strikes my fancy. A couple have come from conversations, news articles, irritating people...wait did I say that out loud? I better stop right there before I write a check my hips can’t cash. :-)

Tonya:  If you’re self-published, can you tell us a bit about that and how it’s going for you?

Lynn:  I am actually. I uploaded flash fiction story, Proof of Murder, a couple of months ago on Amazon. So far I’m happy with the results.

Tonya:  Kudos for you! Way to go. Are you a daytime writer, night time writer, and do you have to be alone to write?

Lynn:  I truly prefer late night and early morning writing. Over the years I’ve gotten used to writing with noise and such, children, TV, or whatnot. Although birds, tractors and barking dogs have provided enough background noise to drown out the ever present silence.

Tonya:  What advice would you give to new authors?

Lynn:  Join a writer’s group or find a good critique partner and keep learning. One can have all the talent in the world, but if  you never do anything to learn more about the craft, your full potential won’t be realized.

Tonya:  Do you write better when you first have an idea of what your characters look like or do you write, then add character looks?

Lynn:  I think it’s a little bit of both for me. The character may look one way in the beginning, but may change subtly by chapter three or four.

Tonya:  *hitting the jet button again*  What attracts you the most about men?

Lynn:  His voice or his cologne. I’m visually impaired and often I have to stare at a man for a very long time before I know what he looks like. Since I don’t want to be thought of as a stalker or rude, I focus on attributes that won’t get me in trouble. :-)

Tonya:  We’re dying to hear about your latest book. What can you tell us without spoiling the storyline? *refilling your champagne glass*

Lynn:  Ahhh, The Pick-Up Wife. Oh, thanks for the refill! My dear Leo and Symmone have some leftover hostility from an unwanted divorce and a whole lot of pent up attraction just seeking release.

Tonya:  Sounds like a script for lots of hot action. What is your favorite night time snack?

Lynn:  Chocolate

Tonya:  Do you like toppings on your ice cream?

Lynn:  Hershey’s hot fudge, not Smuckers, or Sanders or Mrs. Richards or chocolate syrup. Hot fudge and nuts. Whipped cream and a cherry are negotiable.

Tonya:  Mmmmm.....cheers to chocolate lovers! What’s your favorite meal - Italian, Mexican, Thai, etc?

Lynn:  I have a weakness for all those, but give me sloppy joes and french fries any day of the week.

Excerpt:  The Pick-Up Wife

Her footsteps slowed as she caught a glimpse of her reflection in the windowpane. She paused long enough to straighten her dark ponytail. With a huff of disgust she dropped her hand from her ebony tresses and shook her head. She couldn’t believe she was primping for her ex. Primping!
She set the glass on the table with a thump. He looked up with a tentative smile, and she was lost. She opened her mouth to speak and not a single word came out. God, he was even more handsome than the last time she’d seen him. Gone was the youthful softness of his face. Now he had a man’s face, a jaw that spoke of strength and maturity. His brown eyes, while bright and intelligent, seemed to hold a tinge of sadness, but what drew her attention most was his mouth. How many hours had she fantasized about the taste and shape of his mouth, about the firm press of his lips against hers or the butterfly kisses he used to flutter over her skin.
His smile widened. “You’re speechless.”
The warm rasp of his rich baritone danced over her, opening wounds she thought long since healed and igniting a desire she’d hoped long dead. He couldn’t come in here, to her place of employment, and upset everything she’d ever worked for with just two words.
Everything came back in an aching, throbbing fireball, and she clenched her hands at her sides.
“What do you want?” She didn’t bother to hide the annoyance or anger in her voice.
He blinked, and his smile drooped a bit, but he managed to maintain it. “I came to see you.”
“You haven’t given a damn about me in ten years. What’s so special about now? Are you dying? Or have you come to assuage some misplaced sense of guilt? Either way, the café has very good takeout I believe you would enjoy.”
He chuckled, and it produced an ache in areas she didn’t want to acknowledge. “I suppose I deserve that, but you’re wrong, Symmone. I’ve never stopped thinking about you.” His quiet admission stayed her irritation. “And I was wrong to do what I did.”
