Rae McCartney
Erotic Romance
Tonya:
Readers love to know more about their authors. Tell us a bit about
yourself.
Rae:
I’m a work-a-holic plain and simple. I am UK born and bred, although I’ve
lived in the U.S. the majority of my adult life. I love to go to out-of-the-way
art and photo galleries. I'm a writer/author, photographer. I write erotic
romance. I have been a model, worked in the entertainment business and
even been an extra in a couple of films. My photography skills have allowed me
the honor to work with some great photographers, and I now use those skills in
my day job to analyze images.
Tonya:
Wow, that's a fantastic background to draw from! Do you have a day job?
Rae:
Yes I do - a couple, fortunately which allow me to work from home.
One thing I do is analyze photographs or images.
Tonya:
Some of us have things we do to get into the writing frame of mind like
music, or drinks. Do you have anything special you do to get into the writing
mood?
Rae:
I usually like to have a glass of wine, especially if I’ve been working.
Then I’ll pick out music. Surprisingly what I listen to dictates what I write.
If I’m listening to something upbeat, everything will get written except
serious scenes.
Tonya:
Where do you get story ideas from?
Rae:
I have a very overactive imagination *wicked laugh*, so a lot of my story
ideas are born from that. But I can also say that I might read a book or go to
a movie and one slice erupts in my mind and becomes an entirely new story idea.
Tonya:
If you’re self-published, can you tell us a bit about that and how it’s
going for you?
Rae:
I am self-published by choice. It is a slow process partially because of
my “day job”. This one in particular has a very demanding client, so my writing
gets put aside. There is a lot that an author must do when they’re self
published. It’s not just write a book. There’s all the publicity to get your
name out. That has also gotten pushed aside. I’m slowly reworking things
and restarting my publicity train.
Tonya:
I'm glad you stopped in so my readers can meet you. Are you a daytime writer, night time writer, and do you have to be alone
to write?
Rae:
At the moment, I’m a night time writer, and a weekend writer. As I’m
single, I write alone. I don’t have to be alone to write. Sometimes for a change
of pace, or if I need a jump start I’ll go to a coffee shop with internet
connection. People watching is wonderful for writers.
Tonya:
We can pick up character traits that way. I love it. What advice would you give to new authors?
Rae:
Write - keep writing. The more you write the more your craft will
improve. And always follow your heart.
Tonya:
Do you write better when you first have an idea of what your characters
look like or do you write, then add character looks?
Rae:
I may have a idea of what a character should look like, but I always find
myself going back and adding things to how a character looks.
Tonya:
What attracts you most about men?
Rae:
*wicked laugh* Their eyes. I love men with eyes that speak to you.
Lustful, emotion filled eyes. They say the eyes are a window to a person’s
soul. . .and then there’s the forearm, which leads me to muscular upper arms.
And then a handsome face…*sigh* it’s so hard to decide!
Tonya:
I have to agree with you there, Rae! We’re dying to hear about your latest book. What can you tell us without
spoiling the storyline?
Rae:
Lovers Undercover: Devoted is the sequel to LU: Impassioned. It picks up
pretty much where the last one left off. Logan and Scarlett find themselves
doing some “undercover” work in some, how shall we say, very unusual places?
And yes, there will be a third installment.
Tonya:
I'm glad to hear the characters continue on and I'm sure your readers will, too. Where can our readers find you and your books?
Rae:
Devoted is way behind schedule unfortunately. I am looking at having it
release in late September. Lovers Undercover: Impassioned can be found on
Amazon, Barnes and Noble as well as Smashwords.
Tonya:
Is there anything else you want to tell our readers?
Rae:
I love, love, love to hear feedback and comments from readers.
Tonya:
Okay, now for a few fun questions. What is your favorite night time snack?
Rae:
Popcorn!
Tonya: Ah! That's mine, too! Do you like toppings on your ice cream?
Rae:
Only chocolate syrup! *wicked laugh* No whipped cream necessary!
Tonya:
What’s your favorite meal - Italian, Mexican, Thai, etc?
Rae:
Authentic Italian
Excerpt
from Devoted:
The
next morning we slowly resumed our trip through France to our destination.
Winding through the back roads I had mapped out, we took in the sunshine and
countryside.
Suddenly
I grinned, looking out the passenger side window. I turned toward Logan and
slowly took my right hand and cupped his crotch.
Logan
said nothing, did nothing. He stared at the road ahead and continued to drive.
Carefully, I unfastened his jeans, taking the zipper carefully in my fingers
and opening it. I smiled to myself. He was commando under his jeans. I wondered
if that meant he had had something wicked planned as well.
Slowly
and carefully I placed my hand on the tight spheres of his balls and took them
free of their denim confines. His skin was warmer closer to the join of his
legs. I let my fingers trace behind them until I found the crease between ball
and thigh. I caressed there a moment, the last safe place, and then moved my
fingers to his shaft.
Logan’s
body jerked at my touch. His gaze was still on the road ahead. Knowing what was
coming, he pulled over to the side of the road. It was too much for him to
bear, and drive at the same time.
My
smile widened as I drew my finger up to the length of him to his tip. His skin
was smooth, hot, and at the same time silken soft. Strength encased in a firm
package.
He
stilled. “Scarlett, love, you are killing me.”
I
lifted my hand away, teasing. “Shall I stop?”
“No!”
Logan gasped as he placed his right hand over my back. “I don’t want you to
stop. Please.”
I
put my hand back on his shaft. Again he jerked, Logan trying to contain his
reaction.
I
glided my palm up the length of him. Logan sucked in a breath, his body rigid
as I brushed my palm over his tip and then slid my hand back down.
“Oh,
God, Scarlett…”
The
groan nearly undid me as I stroked him again, this time a little faster. Logan
grew even harder under my touch, his hands tightened to fists.
“Come
love, come here.”
Getting
into position wasn’t easy. The steering wheel was in the way and I had to bend
my head in an awkward position to keep my head from bumping the ceiling of the
car.
Logan
helped by grabbing my waist with both hands and hoisting me onto his lap. He
used his knees to help spread my legs, settling me into a more comfortable
position. I slid my arms around his neck as his shaft stretched between the two
of us.
“You
drive me crazy,” he murmured, his lips lightly brushing mine, teasing. “You’re
so damn hot, baby.”
He
slanted his mouth over mine in a demanding, passionate kiss as he silently
urged me to sit up. Logan lifted me slightly as he impaled me with his cock.
“Oh
God, yes,” I heard myself blurt out as I sank onto him. He spread my legs wider
apart with his knees so he could go deeper. He held on to my waist, helping me
go up and down off him. Then he quit, allowing me to take over and ride him on
my own. His hips shoved upward to meet me with his thrusts. As the intensity
grew, Logan ran his fingers in a circle over my swollen and sensitive clit. I
grabbed on to him as my climax tore over me in wild bursts. Logan soon followed
yelling out my name as he tensed under me, allowing his seed to spill deep
within me. It was a glorious feeling of his fingers, his warmth against me. Nothing but the two of us, sensation, warming.
I
lay against his chest as well as I could in the confines of the car, and as he
wrapped his arms around me. Logan stroked me, keeping his touch gentle.
He
pulled me back up to his face and kissed my mouth, and I quickly moved my lips
in a greedy response. I touched his face as we kissed, saying nothing. I
hoisted myself off his lap and back to the passenger side of the car. He gazed
over in my direction, watching as I primped.
“You
soothe me, you know that,” he whispered.
“I’m
glad.”
“I
love you.”
“I
love you too, Logan.”
