Author Interview - Lani Rhea - Paranormal Erotic Romance

Lani Rhea Interview

Thank you for stopping in to learn more about my guest this week. Lani writes paranormal erotic romance. Lani welcome to my blog!

Lani:  Thank you, Tonya, for allowing me to guest blog this week! I’m so glad you found me! We will talk about my story Rising Currents: Louisiana Moon today. It’s a paranormal erotic romance.

Blurb

In the sultry world of Louisiana, Kristina Knight, a werewolf bounty hunter, spurns her royal bloodline, wanting nothing to do with the damn Throne Leaders. Her normal life crumbles when vampires inquire if she can help locate an escapee. Her ex-lover, vampire leader Ryant Starga, is determined to save her from Soul Demons. She believes her parents were slain by his kind. He’s got some nerve if he thinks she’ll trust him after he denied their involvement.
Humans are being plucked from the streets. Kris learns Ryant is the cult leader for the Truce Brotherhood and behind the kidnappings. She rescues a human named Darin James from vampirism and from being forced to join their army to fight the snarling demons. She won’t allow it, no way. A major complication arises, Ryant can’t push Darin out of the picture to gain Kris’ respect and woo her into his bed. And the demons won’t stop until they capture her. Great.
Hoodoo magic lures Kris to a hell house she inherits. To ensure their mutant leader’s victory, the Soul Demons need one drop of her royal blood, then plan to discard her to control all preternatural creatures as Throne Leaders. If the cement dwellers would stay locked up where they belong there wouldn’t be a mess for Kristina to clean up. One more conflict added to the pile of doubt and dishonesty. She could handle it. Maybe. Who needed to be of royal blood anyway? Not her. Hell, she’d fight to the death before trusting vampires to save her from the demons.
Tonya:  Tell us a bit about yourself. Do you have a day job?

Lani:  I’m a mother of four and married over 15 years to my high school sweetheart. I did home school, never again. lol I like my free time to write. I babysit my neighbor’s kiddos and write.

Tonya:  Some of us have things we do to get into the writing frame of mind like music, or drinks. Do you have anything special you do to get into the writing mood?

Lani:  Pandora.com is my bff. PINK, my favorite artist. If I don’t listen, well, you might catch me surfing the web when I shouldn’t be. lol The web will stuck you in when you should be doing better things.

Tonya:  Are you ever at a loss for ideas? What do you do to get past those time? I don’t have them often but being out in my yard and gardens helps me get creative.

Lani:  I’m at a loss when the stress in life happens. This year alone has been very hard for me. From February 10th, until March 20th, I lost two first cousins in tragic ways (both brothers) AND in between their deaths, I almost lost my husband and two youngest children in a head on/right side collision. Wear seat belts, they save lives!
How I get past the hard times, is this…if an idea comes to me I write it down. Even in my minivan I find something to write on and decipher the chicken starches later. If I’m stuck after a scene, I skip the broken puzzle and write the next, then worry about filling in the gap later.

Rising Currents: Louisiana Moon will be dedicated to my two cousins, my beta reader who has pushed me into completing the story and the people of Louisiana for all their hard times. In this story, my heroine, Kristina Knight, has a foundation called the Knight Foundation, which she holds a charity event to donate money to the Red Cross.

Tonya:  Do you have a card file where you keep story ideas? Where do they come from?

Lani:  When new story ideas pry into my writing time of another, I type the basics in one paragraph on a .doc file and leave the story alone on my computer. I have notebooks full of ideas too. I rather use .doc and send to my yahoo to be safe because flash drives do not work! I lost everything in April, totally sucked starting back over.
Stories appear from everywhere. I could be driving and spot something unique and think, “What if?” and go from there. As for Rising Currents: Louisiana Moon, I thought, “What if there were a kick ass heroine who was a werewolf and her ex-lover was a vampire? What conflicts could I give them?” Hmm…Then the story began from there. November 2010 I began writing Louisiana Moon. My beta reader read the first few chapters and stayed on my ass to finish. Now she’s caught up to my writing and sits patiently drumming her fingers on her thighs. lol

Tonya:  Tell us about a day in your life as a writer.

Lani:  Coffee. Coffee is my friend, my love in the morning. Coffee slowly wakes me up and cracks the whip! First, I check my Gmail, Twitter, Facebook and my team at Savvy Authors. Did I mention I’m the leader for The Preternaturals? They are a group of lovely ladies who I adore and give inspiration to. And then, I look over what I wrote the day before and add to the story.

Tonya:  Are you a daytime writer, night time writer, and do you have to be alone to write?

Lani:  I’m an all day writer, hoot owl sometimes going to bed at 3 a.m. only to wake up at 8 a.m. It’s rough, but it makes progress. And yes, I do have to be alone. With four kids it’s hard. I placed a note on my bedroom door advising the kids that when my door is shut to leave me alone. Here’s the note: “Very busy. Please step away from the door. Do Not Knock!!! Only when you’re gushing blood an inch from your body is when you’re to bother me.” This is my job. I’ve explained to them that I do not have a punch card that allows me to clock in at 8 a.m. and out at 5 p.m. I write/edit all the time.

Tonya:  Do you have critique partners or ever been in a critique group? What was the best thing you learned from a critique?

Lani:  Yes. There are only two groups I’m really close with and they are The Preternaturals and the Sexy Spunkettes from Savvy Authors. A combine total, not including me, 23 crit partners.
My advice, don’t take negative comments to heart. What a partner/stranger states is only improvement. Take what the person offered and make it a positive, and thank them.

Tonya:  Do you write better when you first have an idea of what your characters look like or do you write, then add character looks?

Lani:  I have a general idea of what they look like, but I like to have the picture first. The fun part is searching royalty free images for what the character in my head looks like. It’s nice to have something to reference back to in print.

Tonya:  Do you always include HEA and is that type of ending important to you?

Lani:  Yes. A happily ever after is very important to me. I write paranormal, urban fantasy, romance and erotic romance. In my erotic romances, romance plays a major key in my stories. I love to write the emotions. Make the characters tug and pull on one another, and then finally give them what they desire.

Tonya:  Where can our readers find you and your books?

Lani: Here are a few of my websites:
Twitter: RheasRomance
On my blog you’ll find links at the top of the page for my Facebook and Youtube. Book trailers are so fun to make! Love the experience. Find me and friend me!
As far as my book goes, this is a WIP. I plan to pitch the story in July to agents. The story is finished as far as a rough draft goes, and it’s almost completely edited. So I hope an agent picks the story up! Wish me luck everyone!

Tonya:  Is there anything else you want to tell our readers?

Lani:  If you’re a new writer, striving to become published, Do Not give up!
     Join RWA and Savvy Authors.
Make sure you have an Author website, Facebook, Twitter, blog and throw in a Youtube page.
Socialize as much as you can with other writers, and not just about books either.
Read as much as you can on the genre you plan to write.
And most of all have fun! If you don’t have fun while you write, you’ll hate it! And we don’t want that, right? Nope we don’t. We want to hear fresh new voices. Remember to write the friggin story! Then worry about all the tech stuff later. They’re easy fixes.
Stay positive and focused. You’re time will come! I promise!
Time for an excerpt, keep in mind this has not been seen by an agent. A very close, dear friend of mine I met through Savvy is editing this story for me. Her name is Danielle Gavan. She is multi published.

Excerpt:

      Damn incorrigible vampires.
Kris parked underneath the carport. She sucked in a much needed breath and tried to relax from the stressful day. She despised vampires and planned to live the rest of her days plucking every single one off the streets. They had killed her parents. And the one in her office said his name was Mr. Launders. Ha.
She knew him for a poser, not the Head Honcho over the state of Louisiana. The fake said the real leader would call her the next night. She wouldn't bet on it. Kris would ignore the call. If not for her secretary’s presences, she would have shoved a sharpened pencil through his heart for sure. Then, she laughed, he couldn't report back to the real leader.
Exiting the Chevy Volt, she gathered every bit of energy she could. Kris shuffled toward the house exhausted. Tugging her long brown hair from the bun she froze. The updraft from the ocean flicked curly strands up, wrapping them around her face. Her hand rested on the doorknob, her muscles tensed and she sniffed. Reaching for her gun, Kris withdrew it from the snug holster at the small of her back and held firm. Anxious seconds ticked by before she placed the key in the knob, and turned it. Nothing.
A familiar scent enveloped her like a swarm of bees. Not dangerous, to her anyway and yet one she could live another thousand years without. The decadence of silken coconut—exotic, wild and sexy waited on the other side. Damn it! How did he find her? She cringed before stepping inside.
Hustling to remove her gray business jacket without giving away her location, she tossed the garment constricting her movements onto the side table. Her back stayed to the door, her only exit at the moment. Quickly readjusting the silky, red chemise, she peeked into the living room. Empty, good. Dumping her phone and keys on the coat, Kris investigated. She left the kitchen for last.
The whole night had been risky. Dangerous.
Kris held the gun forearm length away, just in case he still held a temper from their last split. Continuing with tip-toed steps, her Gucci boots clicked lightly on the high glossed concrete floor. Stopping to slip them off, she hoped the sounds didn’t carry to him while she placed them next to the baseboard. Kris cringed as she thought remorsefully of their reunion. Would this hurt as much as the breakup?
The scent of coconut lingered in every room like boiled over spaghetti sauce. When the stain dried, caking to the walls, it never came off easy. She would smug her house clean with bleach when their meeting was over. Kris blew out a breath quietly to calm her nerves before she walked in the kitchen. She maintained her strenuous stance, the muscles down the middle of her back burning from the tight pull.
Turning the last corner, she scanned the room. No one in sight appeared. She missed the meeting. Good, because she didn't feel up to an encounter with anyone at the moment, let alone him. To be completely assured, she glanced around once more.
The ebony granite tops glistened with the moonlight. The sparkles of shaved stone shone faintly with each angle scoped. Nothing. Barefoot, she walked over to the cherry wood cabinets, and placed her gun on the counter. She reached above the copper tub sink, extracted a short crystal tumbler, and steadied her breathing.
Glass half-full with water from the faucet, she drank the contents and then flipped the overhead sink switch. Enough light shone in the frosted-glowing white halo for Kris to look around. She felt him close, there somewhere and her body stiffened. So much for relaxing, she scanned the windows. There goes that notion out the door. She readied herself by placing a hand near the gun.
A whisper of wind blew behind her. Ryant Starga leaned in the doorway between the kitchen and dining room. Momentarily, she faced forward, looking out the kitchen window, stealing quick glances at his glazed reflection. She stood silent, waited. He still sent pleasurable quakes of delight through her, and yet at the same time Kris wanted to stake him. He gave her nothing but a blank stare. Her turn, “Took you long enough to appear this time, don't you think? You're getting rusty aren't ya?”
“I should ask the same. The boots were a dead giveaway.”
She rolled her eyes and shook her head, time to reconsider her fashion sense and buy flats. Damn, she loved those boots. He lazily waved a hand in the reflection, his arms crossed over his chest. The memory of her hands fondling his muscled frame tumbled back. Her stomach tightened at the thought of his hands on her skin.
The scent of warm bread and steamed vegetables fluttered around her nose. It bloomed and lingered in the space between them, like a red cape baiting a bull to attack. Glancing at the table in the next room, Kris saw a meal laid out. Vampire magic, great. What a shame and pitifully wasted gift.
Ryant dressed sleek and commanding. His strong legs shifted, switching the balance of weight between ankles, and swiveling his hips. Kris could remember burrowing her heels in his hard round of ass. She cussed at her body for wanting him again. Would she ever learn?
“Come have dinner with me,” he commanded her, voice flowing like a brook on a bright spring day. The beast side of Kris would tear apart the bunnies hopping alongside the water’s edge. She needed to keep a leash on it, find out what he wanted, why he was there?
What the hell happened to her day? First, a vamp in her office—and now, in her home, she sighed, wishing their kind would disappear.
“Come,” he coaxed. Once upon a time he had reined her in with the beauty of his voice. Still, her mind boggled over how they were ever a couple.
She turned gracefully to stare face to face with Ryant, and glared at him. Strange specks she didn’t recall being there darkened his tawny eyes. It had been fifty years since their last encounter in Los Angeles, and while some memories could be erased, not all had been. She refused to let his star-burst eyes capture her soul again.
He snapped his fingers, and candles flickered to life. A warm glow lit the dining room. The flickering flames casted pale yellow waves throughout the room, barely reached past silver pointed, black alligator shoes. Did he plan to shank her with them?
Ryant had always been the type of man, vamp, whatever—to show off his powers. Like his way of trying to impress her with the midnight black designer Azione Italian suit he wore. The show he put on wouldn't work this time around.
The empty glass clanked against the counter. “What do you want? It's been decades.” She folded arms under the swell of her breasts, a hip balanced against the counter and waited for his response. Kris’ narrowed eyes, concentrated hard as they roamed from the floor up to take in the visual stimulus he offered. Her body ached to touch his but she forced back the desire despite the heat pooled between her thighs. Damn. Why couldn’t the longing for him have stayed in the past?

Author Interview - Liz Borino - Erotic Romance Author

Welcome Liz Borino!

Thank you for stopping in to chat with us and learn about Liz's newest release. Grab a coffee or your favorite drink at the side bar there and come get comfy on the couch with us.
Tonya:  Liz, welcome back. It's always great to have you visit. Tell us a bit about yourself. Do you have a day job?

Liz:  I edit for two publishers and do some Public Relations work. The editing has actually improved my writing dramatically. If you read my work, you’ll pick up rather quickly on my disdain for the word that. Use it sparingly, writers, please…
I love to travel. My two favorite cities are New York City and London. I adore the theater culture in both cities. My love of cities comes from growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania.

Tonya:  I’d love to visit London one day! Some of us have things we do to get into the writing frame of mind like music, or drinks. Do you have anything special you do to get into the writing mood?

Liz:  If I have to do some heavy duty writing, I put on binaural beats. They help me to concentrate. If it’s just casual I use music and Snapple. Snapple keeps me awake.

Tonya:  Are you ever at a loss for ideas? What do you do to get past those times? I don’t have them often but being out in my yard and gardens helps me get creative.

Liz:  I do hypnosis. It’s supposed to create wealth. So far, I’ve manifested a title for my third book, fixes for plot problems, new characters and fantastic reviews. As of yet, no money. Where is my money, universe?!

Tonya:  Hypnosis? That’s interesting and it seems to work for you…sort of, short of the money. Do you have a card file where you keep story ideas? Where do they come from?

Liz:  It’s this grey mushy thing inside my head, um, hold on – brain. Sorry, it wasn’t turned on. I can usually access what I need. Where do they come from? Scary answer for you, but my life. No, I don’t write a biography, but my characters are all a part of me. The plot itself is mostly from my imagination.

Tonya:  Are you a daytime writer, night time writer, and do you have to be alone to write?

Liz:  Do you want to know what happens when I try to write at night? Around 11 last night, it took me three times to spell the word potato correctly. Needless to say, I’m a day time writer. And if I had to wait to be alone to write, nothing would ever get done.

Tonya:  Do you have critique partners or ever been in a critique group? What was the best thing you learned from a critique?

Liz:  Not a formal one. I have great fans who’ve become friends. They know me and my characters and so I can ask them if they think something would work or if I pushed the envelope too far this time. They’re wonderfully supportive.

Tonya:  Do you write better when you first have an idea of what your characters look like or do you write, then add character looks?

Liz:  I don’t know if I write better this way, but I know what my characters look like. I see them long before I ever start to write the book. In my head. I’m not entirely crazy. I day dream all the time and I have very clear visions of my boys (and girls).

Tonya:  Do you always include HEA and is that type of ending important to you?

Liz:  Someone has to be happy. The ending should at least be hopeful. I strive to give off a feeling of hope and love in my novels.

Tonya:  Where can our readers find you and your books?

Excerpt:  Chapter One

 Chapter 1
Chris O’ Boyle took a deep breath as he directed the movers on where to put the boxes in their new Hartford home. “I don’t know, Aiden. I think this is too big for the four of us.”
Aiden slipped his arm around his husband’s waist with a smile, “It might be too big if it was just four of us. Your dad has the guest house for him and his nurse and the kids have rooms close to ours, plus a few extra bedrooms.” His Irish accent was thick, as usual when he relaxed.
“My dad living here is just temporary.” Chris reassured, though he wasn’t sure who he was reassuring, Aiden or himself. He wasn’t entirely happy with his father living with them, but after the stroke it was either that or a nursing home. While a nursing home was still on the table, Chris didn’t have the time to research it before they moved. Besides, it just didn’t feel right to put family away, no matter how badly they hurt you.
Aiden saw Chris’s eyes darken. He knew how difficult it would be for Chris to have his father here. Despite the fact that Chris dealt very well with the after effects of the attack his father wrought on him when Chris came out, it still hurt. Aiden squeezed his eyes shut at the thoughts of what happened, but he fought back his own feelings and took Chris in his arms. “Well, good, then we’ll have room for more children.”
Chris turned around in his husband’s embrace and pressed their lips together.  “More children, Aiden?”
“I think so. What fun would having only two be?” Aiden smiled and let Chris go when the movers came back inside. He couldn’t wait to get all the crap put away and be alone with Chris. They hadn’t been alone in at least a week now, between the movers, Aiden’s classes, and doctor appointments with Meggie.
Meghan, his sister, was six months pregnant with Chris’s twins. They found out last week she’d have a boy and a girl. Aiden couldn’t imagine a better outcome. He worked with the movers to set up the living room while Chris was with others in what would become his father’s room.
Aiden nodded as the workmen put the entertainment center together and then placed the plasma television on top. When they moved out of their loft in Greenwich Village, Chris and Matt, Chris’s identical twin, debated on who should get the TV. Aiden and Carley, Matt’s girlfriend, sat on the couch and watched the heated debate. Chris and Aiden ended up with it because Carley had her own, which was almost as big. Matt got the leather couch and recliner.
Plasma TV, so unnecessary. Aiden scoffed to himself more than once. He didn’t grow up like this. He and Meghan grew up on a farm in Ireland. The house had three rooms, a kitchen, living room, and a downstairs bedroom where his parents slept. He and Meghan shared a loft area that you could only reach through a ladder. It was a far cry from the six bedroom home, with a pool and a guest cottage, he shared with his husband now.
Chris came in and sat down on the couch next to him, “They’re almost done out there.”
“Are you picking up your dad?”Aiden asked leaning into Chris’s chest.
Chris shook his head as he kissed Aiden’s hair. “No, Matt’s bringing him over around dinner time. I said I’d cook for all of us, but I gotta tell you, I’m not really feeling it.”
Aiden laughed, “If neither of you are cooking, then we’ll be getting to know the local takeout place.” When Chris didn’t respond, Aiden looked up into his golden brown eyes to find a far off look. “Would you like me to go to the store for you?”
Aiden’s question quirked a smile on Chris’s lips, “And what would you buy? No, really, I can’t cook with anything you buy. I swear to god, I tell you to get meat and you buy SPAM.”
“I did that once because it was on sale.” Aiden said and realized that was something they wouldn’t be worrying about anymore. Judging by Chris’s expression, he thought the same thing. To say they were well off was an understatement. The twins each received $50 million from their trust funds and any remaining wealth their father had, which was a lot.
“SPAM is always on sale. There’s no other way to get it out of the store.” Chris smiled and paid the movers when they finished. He and Aiden still had some hours, or days, of work ahead of them.
Aiden took Chris’s hand and smiled, “When did you say Matt was bringing your dad?”
“Six. Why?” Chris answered, appreciating Aiden’s smile.
“Well, I’d say between going to the store and cooking dinner, you’re looking at maybe an hour and a half. I think we have some room for fun in there.” Aiden watched recognition light up on his husband’s face. They sped upstairs without another word.
* * *
“Matt, where are you going?” Carley asked as he finished setting up the living room and reached for his winter jacket.
Matt took a deep breath and counted to ten in his head. It was difficult to keep the irritation out of his voice when he had to keep repeating himself. “I’m going to pick up my dad, get him settled at Chris and Aiden’s and then eat dinner.”
“You’re eating dinner there?”
“Yeah, hon. I’ll bring you back some.”
“Some what?” Carley asked, trying to tone down her frustration. The doctor put her on bed rest at her last appointment because she had bleeding and he feared a miscarriage. It meant she had two options, the bed or the couch. Carley saw this as an opportunity for her and Matt to slow down and spend some more time together. Unfortunately, he didn’t see it that way. Matt worked more. When they worked together it mattered less how much they were in the office. They enjoyed work after starting their marketing company. Enjoyed each other, their clients, and their other business partner, Cyndi. However, Carley did not enjoy the long days when she was stuck at home and Matt was at work. She was hardly looking forward to three more months like this.
“I don’t know.” Matt ran his hand through his hair. “Chris didn’t know what he was cooking when I talked to him.”
“You know I can’t eat shellfish.” Carley bit her lip after the words left her mouth. How often has either of us made shellfish? Instead Matt gave her a pained smile. “I know and so does he. I’m sure it’ll be chicken or steak.” He walked toward the door and glanced over his shoulder, “Do you need anything else while I’m out?”
You. I need you.Carley shook her head. “Thanks, babe. I got everything I need here.”
He nodded and grabbed his keys. “I’ll be home.” She wanted something else, but Matt chose to ignore it. He had to get out of there.
They moved up to Hartford last week, or rather, he and Chris moved them up. Carley couldn’t help because of the baby. So, she stayed with Aiden. These damn hormones were gonna kill him. And they weren’t even in his body. The first few weeks of the pregnancy were fine. Carley was happy, excited. If he was being honest, so was he. Carley didn’t have any morning sickness. Though, Matt did find himself placating requests of mustard and egg sandwiches in the middle of the night. All in all, the first trimester was pleasant. It was just now that she was starting to get a noticeable belly. Matt thought it was beyond adorable. That all changed three weeks ago.
One of the few nights they spent apart, Matt was at his loft hanging out with Chris and Aiden. It’d be one of the last nights they lived together. So, they all sat around playing poker and ragging on each other. The ragging only intensified when Matt answered his cell on the first ring, but he waved them quiet before saying, “Yes, baby?”
“Matt…are you busy?” Came Carley’s hesitant reply.
“Define busy, sweetheart. I’m demonstrating the proper way to play five card, by whooping Chris and Aiden into oblivion. What’s up?”
“The baby, Matt. I...don’t know. I’m bleeding pretty bad…and…” anything else was chocked out by tears.
“I’m leaving now. It’s gonna be alright.” Matt told her, though he had no idea if it was true. He cursed the traffic present even at 11PM in New York City as he picked her up and they drove to the hospital. The doctor told them she was at risk for a miscarriage. After a night in the ER, Carley was put on bed rest. No work, lifting, stress, and…no sex. Matt nearly swallowed his tongue when the doctor said that. Of course, the baby would come first, but damn it, three months? It had easily been five years since he’d gone that long.
Matt shook his head as he turned into the rehab facility where his father stayed until Chris and Aiden moved in. He’d be lying if he didn’t admit he was jealous of their house. He and Carley got a much more modest three bedroom. Quaint, perfect, she’d said. Wouldn’t last if they had more than one child. Shit, where did that come from? It was dumb really. They had more than enough money for something more elaborate. Chris didn’t even like the grandeur. He never enjoyed it. So, why the big house? Because they would have a slew of children to fill it.
Matt parked the car and met a young nurse standing behind his father’s wheelchair. Out of habit Matt noted she wasn’t wearing a wedding ring. Oh yeah…that’s a great habit to have. He gave her a smile and offered his hand, “Hi, I’m his son, Matt Taylor.”
“I’m Sarah.” She smiled and glanced down at Robert.
Matt crouched down so he could look his father in the eye. “Hey there, Dad. How you feeling today?” Matt didn’t expect an answer. He doubted his father could answer. The nurses and doctors swore he had good days. Days when he was more responsive. Matt and Chris witnessed a few of these. Robert would blink in response to questions…and this was an improvement. Just months ago, Robert ran a multi-billion dollar business. And now he couldn’t lift a cup to his lips. Matt stood and gave the nurse…Sarah? another smile, “How is he so far today?”
“It’s been a lot of commotion. What with moving and packing…” Sarah stopped.
“It’s ok; I don’t expect anything out of him.” Matt signed the stack of papers she handed him.
“I’m sure it’ll be better once we get him set up at your brother’s house with a comfortable routine.” She glanced between Matt and Robert. “Um, your brother, Chris? He has a different last name…”
“Oh yeah, he took his husband’s name when they got married.” Matt answered glancing up to gauge her reaction. Chris wanted to disassociate himself from their father as much as possible.
“Oh…I see….” Sarah stammered.
“Is there a problem?” Matt’s eyes darkened with the question. He sensed judgment on her part and he didn’t take kindly to it.
“No, no, I’m sorry. He just never mentioned it in the interview or any of our other conversations…”
Matt studied her for a second before deciding she was far too nervous to really mean harm, “Well, think of it this way, if he asked you a similar question during an interview, you could’ve sued.” He offered a half smile, “Come on, let’s call some help and we’ll get him home.”
Sarah nodded, and then left to get a male orderly to help put Robert in the transport van.
Matt watched her hips sway as she walked off and shook his head, “Dad, you sure know how to pick ‘em. Honestly…”

Thank you for your support!

I just wanted to post here about how much I appreciate your support! Thank you to those who have downloaded my books so far and more are in the works! My book sales are increasing a little more each day, thanks to YOU, nothing yet that will put me on the best seller's list, but I'm not giving up! (If you go to All Romance eBooks Online - OmniLit DOES have me listed in 1st place for best seller so see...it is happening and all because of you!) If you know me at all, you know I'm like a tenacious little terrier - I NEVER give up.

If what I want doesn't happen one way, you can count on me to think up another way to get what I want! Yep, you guessed it. I'm also a little spoiled because...one way or another, I always get what I want. Is that bad? You, too, can get what you want. Just never give up and always remember...we attract what we think!

Think about that for a moment - when you're down because bills have you snowed under, all you think about is more bills coming in the mail. So...what do you get?? MORE BILLS in the mail! It will take a bit of time to get things turned around but it IS possible. Don't give up. Look first at the small things in life that you have...the love of your friends, your family...maybe even your Boss! Ooops, not all of us can go there! Sorry! LOL

But you get the jist...think positive and in time, you'll notice little things that are improving in your life. Think about what you want, where you want to be, what you want to do. Let me know how this works out for you! Again, thank you so much for always popping in to check out what's happening. Should I do a newsletter? Vote in the poll on the right and let me know if you're interested.

Watch for the release of Book 3 later this month!

Love you all!

Author Interview - Karenna Colcroft - Erotic Romance Author

Thank you for tuning in today. Please have a seat, get comfy and you might want to take down a few notes of websites. I'm excited to introduce to you the fabulous erotic author, Karenna Colcroft! Let's hear a round of applause please! Thank you....Karenna, I'm so glad you could be here all week so our readers can chat with you. Before I allow them to jump in with titillating questions, I have a few of my own.

Karenna:  Tonya, thank you for having me. I love meeting new readers so I hope they think up some good questions for me.

Tonya:  Tell us a bit about yourself. Do you have a day job?

Karenna:  I do have a day job of sorts. I work part-time (VERY part-time) for my father-in-law in the office of the marine assistance towing company he owns. My husband also works there, as one of the assistance boat captains. That’s where I got the idea for my novel Their Home Port, as a matter of fact.
Other than working there and writing, I have two daughters who like to have my attention from time to time, and two cats who like to distract me from my writing.

Tonya:  Well that’s a great way to get story ideas! Good luck with more along ‘port’ avenue. Some of us have things we do to get into the writing frame of mind like music, or drinks. Do you have anything special you do to get into the writing mood?

Karenna:  Not really. I’ve seen a lot of writers say they have a certain routine or certain music they listen to or something, but I don’t. I just sit down at my computer, set a goal for the day (a specific number of words if I’m writing, or a specific number of chapters if I’m revising or doing publisher edits), and hope for the best.

Tonya:  Are you ever at a loss for ideas? What do you do to get past those time? I don’t have them often but being out in my yard and gardens helps me get creative.

Karenna:  Sometimes I have trouble coming up with romance ideas. It can be really difficult to come up with two characters who actually belong together and to figure out a logical way for them to meet. Fortunately, I also write young adult fiction (under a different name), so if I’m stuck for a romance idea I just switch over and work on a YA story for a while.

Tonya:  I totally relate to that! Do you have a card file where you keep story ideas? Where do they come from?

Karenna:  I don’t have a card file. If an idea really strikes me as something I should use in a story, I type it up and save it on my computer. I don’t know where the ideas come from. Sometimes it’s something I see on TV or read in a book (I don’t use other people’s stories, but a phrase or concept might spark something in my brain); sometimes it’s a dream I had; sometimes they just come out of nowhere. I’ve given up trying to figure out where all my ideas come from. As long as they keep showing up, it’s all good.

Tonya:  Tell us about a day in your life as a writer.

Karenna:  During the week, I usually get up around 5:30 in the morning, because I want to shower before I have to get my kids up for school. During their waking up and getting dressed process, I sit at my computer and check emails. (My kids are 12 and 15; they’re capable of dressing themselves, most of the time. LOL). I usually drive or walk each of them to school, then I either go to work at my day job or I return home, depending on the day of the week. I have a schedule of blogs I visit each day, along with doing my own daily blog posts and other promotional activities. I usually get in about 2-3 hours of actual writing or revising in the course of a typical day.

Tonya:  Keeping up with all that is definitely time consuming and if we aren’t careful, writing doesn’t happen! Are you a daytime writer, night time writer, and do you have to be alone to write?

Karenna:  I’m a daytime writer. I actually have a deal with my kids that, unless I have a chat or something scheduled, if I’m on the computer after 6 p.m. they can lecture me. Evenings are my time with my family. I don’t have to be alone to write, but it does make it easier to concentrate if hubby’s at work and the kids are at school.

Tonya:  Do you have critique partners or ever been in a critique group? What was the best thing you learned from a critique?

Karenna:  I don’t have any critique partners or groups, and I’ve never been in a group. In the past, I’ve had people take a look at a story or two. The best thing I learned was to remember to include all sensual details: sight, sound, touch, taste and smell if they apply. Of course, I still sometimes struggle with that…

Tonya:  Do you write better when you first have an idea of what your characters look like or do you write, then add character looks?

Karenna:  I usually have an idea of what the hero looks like. Figuring out the heroine’s looks is a little more difficult for me. Cover art forms have become the bane of my existence, because when I decide what my characters look like I have a picture of them in my mind, and then to fill out the forms I have to translate that picture into words.

Tonya:  Do you always include HEA and is that type of ending important to you?

Karenna:  All of my romances have happily ever after, or at least happily for now, endings. To me, that kind of ending is important. I mentioned earlier that I haven’t always believed romance existed, and now that my hubby is showing me differently, I really like writing—and reading—about people who find their happy endings.

Tonya:  Where can our readers find you and your books?

Karenna:  The best place to find out more about me is my website. I have a blog on that site where I post daily, with a different type of post each day of the week. I’m also on Twitter (when I remember) as @KarennaColcroft, and on Facebook.
My books are available at my publishers: Pink Petal Books, Ellora’s Cave, Noble Romance, Siren Bookstrand, and coming soon, MLR Press. Most of the books are also available on Amazon and All Romance eBooks, as well as other third party sites.

Tonya:  Is there anything else you want to tell our readers?

Karenna:  I enjoy hearing from readers, and I’m usually pretty good about answering, so feel free to get in touch.

Tonya:  Karenna, I’ve enjoyed our interview! Thank you for being with me this week and letting me introduce you to my readers. I hope all of you have or will be hopping over to Karenna’s websites to check out all her books.
